We do use bioactive cements when cementing crowns on natural teeth. To use a bioactive non retrievable cement for implant crowns would not be recommended by me. Cement problems are completely preventable. The rule in planning implant restorations is to have adequate restorative space so no margin is less that 2 mm from the implant. In these cases screw retained restoration is important and the surgeon should be aware of this to properly place the implant for a screw retained restoration by have the implant parallel to the adjacent teeth contact points. all cement restorations should have properly designed custom abutments controlling the margin at the gingivae. Cement should only be minimally loaded in the gingival 1/3 of crown. For over 13 years in our restorative program within the Department of Periodontics we have used only custom abutments with a retrievable cement (to handle any loose screw problems later). We have had no cement problems. Implants are a restorative procedure and for success they must be properly planned and every team member should do their job properly. The most important biologically accepted components are the implant and the abutment. Love your crown cement..
